On Monday, April 29th, Ward 4 Councilmember Janeese Lewis George, Chair of the Committee on Facilities, introduced her new RECHARGE plan, aimed at transforming the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) into a more Responsive, Efficient, Clean, Healthy, Accessible, Resilient, Green, and Elevating agency.

“DC residents deserve a Department of Parks and Recreation that truly meets the needs of our city,” said Councilmember Lewis George. “This ‘RECHARGE’ initiative represents a top to bottom approach to improving services for District residents. Whether it’s addressing safety concerns, speeding up repairs, or improving communication with residents, we will dive deep into DPR’s policies, procedures, and practices to pinpoint what is working, what isn’t, and how we can remove barriers to success.“

Starting on Monday, May 5th, the Committee on Facilities will hold a series of oversight roundtables to engage with District residents, government leaders, and subject matter experts. Then, using takeaways learned from these hearings, a comprehensive legislative framework will be built to help ensure DPR consistently delivers for District residents.
