DC deserves a Green New Deal, affordable housing, and union-backed jobs
Earlier this year, Councilmember Janeese Lewis George introduced a Green New Deal for DC that puts our people and planet first. The first bill – the Green New Deal for Social Housing – has a public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, November 22, so we are making sure you have the tools you need to win a Green New Deal for DC.
This session features broad overviews of what the DC Council is and how it operates, as well as how DC residents can participate. We talk about public hearings and how we can make our voices heard when policies and budgets that we care about are on the line. By the end of the session, you should have a good sense of your role as a DC resident in advocating for policies that meet your and your neighbors’ needs and have tools at-hand for writing and giving testimony to push DC Council to meet those needs.
